Is a cheap futon a good idea?

Are you searching the web for a cheap futon? While "cheap" is always a relative term, you may want to think twice about just buying the lowest cost cheap futon you can find.

There are a lot of places you can buy a cheap futon. Your local bricks and mortar discount store will usually stock them, and if you can catch a sale you'll have yourself a really cheap futon.

But this cheap futon may be a disappointment. Since you're searching for a cheap futon, and not a cheap loveseat or a cheap sofa, I'll assume you actually would like to be able to sleep on this futon, either once in a while or on a regular basis.

However, the cheap futon mattress will be made of the most inexpensive materials and will be quite thin to start with. Once you begin to use it, this mattress will compress even further, making it less and less comfortable as time goes on. Plus, a cheap futon will have a frame which uses lower quality parts and fasteners-and these parts will tend to wear more quickly, which may well cause trouble down the road with the operation of the futon.

Think about the kind of use you plan to give the futon and how long you'd like it to last, then, rather than looking for the cheapest futon you can find, you might want to consider doing some research on futons (check out the links on this page) and then looking for a great deal on a decent quality futon, rather than just purchasing the lowest cost cheap futon you can locate.
