Change your futon cover to change your room

Changing your futon cover is a great way to change the look of a room. Some people keep a number of different futon covers, and change them out frequently. It's a lot easier than changing or reupholstering your sofa.

Futon covers come in almost any material imaginable these days, but a good everyday choice is 100% cotton. Being washable, these are easy care. For a kid's room or den, denim would be a great choice. There are many other materials available, however, some will require dry cleaning or special care, so be sure to check on this before buying a futon cover.

When buying a futon cover, you want to be sure to get the right size. Measure your futon before ordering. Below are listed the common sizes:
Twin size: 75 x 39
Full size: 75 x 54
Queen size: 80 x 60
Loveseat: 54 x 54
Loveseat Ottoman size: 54 x 21
Chair size: 54 x 28
Ottoman size: 28x21

You may sometimes be required to know what's called the "loft" of your mattress when ordering a futon cover. Loft is simply the thickness of the mattress. Some futon covers do not require this info, and some do, so be sure to check and order the correct loft size if the futon cover manufacturer specifies it.

Here are a few tips regarding futon cover color selection:

• Futon covers with bright colors will lighten up a room.
• Darker colors tend to be calming, so use a futon cover like this in a study or similar room.
